What we got was Deutschland , a song that explored Lindemann's feelings of guilt and shame about his homeland's history and a video that explored some of Germany's darker historical moments.
As well as scenes where hungry monks rip flesh depicted by sausage and sauerkraut from Germania's body, there's the now infamous Holocaust scenes, set within a replica concentration camp.
The scenes caused outrage among many who questioned the band's motives for including the intentionally shocking footage, with the German government's commissioner for anti-Semitism dubbing it a "tasteless exploitation of artistic freedom", while former president of the Central Council of Jews in Germany felt that Rammstein had "crossed a line".

A mention of the Autobahn and the seemingly nonsensical line " Reise, Reise , Fahrvergnügen ", are a reference to appearances of German culture in American commercialism the latter from a Volkswagen advertising campaign, the former from one of Rammstein's own previous albums.
Together, these aspects of the song create a contrast between the sexual mores of German society and that of America.
When played, frontman Till Lindemann mounts a giant cannon which resembles a penis although a bigger, more realistic looking one was used during the first few concerts of the Made in Germany tour, but was replaced by the original for unknown reasons that shoots foam over the audience, while confetti falls from the ceiling, much like " Amerika ".
